  • Project Gutenberg - Provider of free electronic books, where you can download several hundred ebooks in French for free to read on your PC, Kindle, Sony Reader, iPhone or other device, even a Macintosh computer!
  • Maison de la France - A site designed for who are planning to visit France. There are news bulletins and links to practical information about what to do and where to go and where to stay. From the French government's tourist office.
  • France Diplomatie - This website provides information about foreign policy, current news in France, visiting France, useful addresses, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The site is available in both French and Dutch.
  • - Presented both in French and in English, offers information on over 1,000 restaurants in Paris. Restaurants may be searched using criteria that include price range, cuisine (in French version only), or arrondissement (neighborhood).
  • French wine guide - A guide to French wine regions, appellations, varieties, wine making, wine tasting, and more. Offers suggestions for pairing food with wine. Includes a glossary and an explanation of wine designations such as AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée).
  • Recipe from Provençe - Collection of recipes for dishes from the Provençe region of southern France. Includes recipes for ratatouille, basil and cheese flan, grilled red mullet, and Provençales bean soup with basil (soupe au pistou). Additional recipes are available.

  • Présidence de la République - Official website for the president of France. Provides biographical material and speeches and documents from the current president, a picture gallery of presidents back to the Second Republic (1848), and a history of the president’s. Also general information about France and the French society.
  • The Louvre Museum - Established in 1793 by the French Republic, the Louvre Museum is one of the earliest European museums. Divided into 7 departments, the Louvre collections incorporate works dating from the birth of the great antique civilizations.
  • Bibliothèque nationale de France - The Web site of the national library of France provides access to their Online Catalog (OPALE PLUS), a schedule of the library's exhibitions and cultural events, and a few online exhibits. Available in French and English.
  • New France New Horizons/ Nouvelle France Horizons nouveaux - Created to mark "the 400th anniversary of the French presence in North America in 2004," this site "provides access to a virtual exhibition and a [searchable] database containing more than one million images."
  • Creating French culture - Treasures from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. This online exhibit traces France's history from Charlemagne in the eighth century to de Gaulle in the twentieth. Features high-quality reproductions of artifacts with commentaries about the historical, cultural, and artistic significance of the works.
  • France in America/ La France en Amérique - This "English-French digital library ... tells the story of the French presence in America and the interactions between the French and American peoples from the early 16th to the late 19th centuries."
