Gary Hadler, B.Ec., Dip.Ed. (Monash), M.B.A (NTU)

Gary is a qualified accountant and a registered teacher in Hong Kong and Australia. He has been teaching for over 20 years and in Hong Kong since 1999. He teaches Economics and Accounting at all levels as well as MYOB training. He is an I.B. examiner.

Danny Harrington, M.A., (Oxford), CELTA (RSA Cambridge)

Danny has been teaching since 1997. He read Geography at Christ Church College, Oxford and teaches it at all levels, as well as Theory of Knowledge for the IB Diploma. He is a qualified English language teacher. His time at Oxford instilled in him the value of the tutorial style of intensive teaching that is provided at ITS schools. He has also worked on behalf of the University of Oxford, Education UK and UCAS in helping students understand how to apply to Oxford and all UK universities. He sits on the Education Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong which he Chaired in 2014/15.

Sue is a fully qualified teacher with experience from Australia and Asia. She has been registered to teach in Hong Kong since 2003. She teaches English Language and Literature to all levels and she is an I.B. examiner.

Albert Ma, B.Econ. & Finance, (HKU)

Albert read Economics and Finance with Politics at HKU with a year exchange at Georgetown, Washington D.C. He joined ITS in 2008 to teach Economics, Business Studies and Accounting and became Principal at ITS Tutorial School in Mong Kok in 2010.

Andrew Hall, B.A. (Delaware)

Andrew has been working as an EFL professional in Hong Kong for more than a decade, and did his EFL teacher training with academics affiliated with Homerton College, Cambridge. At ITS, Andrew teaches one-to-one English language and literature up to IB, A-level History, and also conducts small-group English language courses for primary-aged learners, leading to both Cambridge and Pearson Young Learner certificates.

Andrew has attended the following course training sessions:

David Lam, B.Sc. (HKU)

David graduated from the University of Hong Kong and joins ITS specialising in pure mathematics, probability and statistics and financial mathematics. David has tutored in schools in Hong Kong since 2006.

Mike Li, B.A. (Colorado)

Mike has a BA in Mathematics, as well as spending a term at Harvard University. Mike has many years of experience both teaching and writing material for IGCSE and the SATs. At ITS, Mike teaches Maths to all levels, including A-level and IB, as well as teaching the SAT Maths and Chemistry subject tests.

Ronald Lau, MMath (Cambridge), MSc (Oxford), MA (Cambridge)

Ronald has been teaching full-time at ITS since 2006. He has multiple degrees in mathematics from two of the world's top universities. He teaches mathematicts to A-level, IB HL options, AEA (Advanced Extension Award) and STEP (Sixth Term Examination Paper).

Ruth Puentespina, B.Sc., TESOL

Ruth has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has been teaching English and Psychology in Hong Kong since 2010. At ITS, she teaches Psychology to IB and A-Level.


David Rowlands, B.A., (Curtin University), B.Ed., (Edith Cowan University), Diploma of Education

David has a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in English Literature. He has over 30 years of teaching experience at top secondary schools in Hong Kong and Australia. Prior to joining ITS, he was the Head of English Department at Yew Chung International School Hong Kong. At ITS, David teaches English Language and English Literature at all levels including GCSE, A-Level and IB.

Albert Cheng, B.A. (University of California, Irvine)

Albert read Economics at University of California, Irvine. He has over eight years of teaching experience in America and Hong Kong. At ITS, he teaches Economics and Maths to all levels, and also has years of experience in SAT preparation.

Winnie Tsang, M.A. (H.K. Polytechnic), CTAP Putonghua

Winnie is an accomplished Chinese teacher with 6 years’ experience in Hong Kong. She is available for all levels of Chinese learning to all age groups and purposes.

Hon Yau, B.Sc. (Hons) (Manchester Poly), M.Sc. (Manchester), Ph.D. (Lancaster)

Hon has three degrees in Chemistry. He has tutored students both in the UK and in Hong Kong for GCSE, A-level, IB and HKCEE. He teaches science to younger students and Chemistry to all levels.

Marianne Michaels, B.Sc. (Eng), M.Phil. (Eng) (H.K.U.S.T.)

Marianne has a BSc degree in Engineering from the US and a Master’s degree in Engineering from HKUST. She has extensive experience with Mathematics, Engineering, Psychology, and the Social Sciences, along with quantitative and qualitative Data analysis (using software SPSSS and N Vivo). She has experience with teaching all age groups.

Andrew Yip, B.A. (Oxford), M.Sc. (LSE)

Andrew has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oxford in Mathematics and Statistics. He then went on to study for his Master’s degree at LSE, where he specialized in Risk and Stochastics. At ITS, Andrew teaches Mathematics to all levels.

Matthew Cooper, B.A. (Hons) (Sussex), CELTA

Matthew is a graduate from the University of Sussex with a first class Bachelor’s degree, joint majoring in Philosophy and English Literature as well as minoring in Psychology.  While studying at Sussex he worked as a proof reader and essay writing tutor and has also taught English as a second language.

John Whelpton, M.A. (Oxford), the Circulus Latinus Honcoensis

John has a M.A. in Applied Linguistics and has spent over twenty years teaching in Hong Kong. An avid academic and historian, John holds a doctorate in Nepali History, and participates in archaeological expeditions as well. John teaches Latin at ITS.

Ivan Serrano Arias, B.Sc. (San Pablo C.E.U. University)

Ivan is a native Spanish teacher who has worked in Hong Kong for over three years, teaching Spanish to students from kindergarten to university level. He has taught a range of syllabuses, including IGCSE, IB and A-level Spanish and has also assisted a number of adults with Business Spanish. Ivan is an official examiner for the DELE exam, the official qualification certifying levels of competence in the Spanish language.

Dr Aashima Mohindra, B.D.S., M.D.S. (Manipal)

Aashima joins us having graduated from Manipal University with passes in first class. Before joining ITS Dr Mohindra was an assistant professor at the Manipal University and at ITS teaches biology to all levels.

Sabrina Swatee, B.Eng. (Hons) (HKU)

Sabrina has a B. Eng (Hons) in Electronic and Communication Engineering from the University of Hong Kong. She has over ten years of experience teaching Maths and Physics to a range of age groups at international schools in Hong Kong. She also teaches Maths for common entrance level and has prepared many students for acceptance into top boarding schools in the UK.

Chau Kwai Sum, B.Sc. (Chinese University H.K.), DipEd

Chau Kwai Sum holds a bachelor in Science in Physics and Maths from Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has authored numerous textbooks in Physics for both local and international curricula, and has many years of teaching Physics Mathematics and Further Maths at international schools. At ITS, Chau Kwai Sum teaches Physics and Maths.

Christina Themar, B.A. (Wisconsin), M.A. (Tsinghua)

Christina has a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science, and a Master’s in Public Administration in International Development. She has over a decade of experience teaching students of diverse cultural backgrounds, in the Middle East, Asia, Europe and North America.  At ITS, she teaches English to IGCSE and History to A-Level and IB.


Donald Gasper, B.A. Hons. (Cambridge), M.Sc. (London)

Donald obtained a bachelor's degree in Oriental Studies (including Linguistics) from the University of Cambridge. He teaches French, German and Latin to all levels. Prior to joining ITS, Donald taught at a number of universities in Hong Kong.


Dr. Xavier Daniel, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. (University Paul Sabatier)

Dr. Xavier DANIEL holds a PhD, masters and bachelors degrees in Biology from the University Paul Sabatier in France, and he has also conducted post-doctoral research in UCLA in the US and UNINE Neuchatel in the Switzerland. Xavier has taught molecular biology in the University of Neuchatel , Switzerland. He teaches Biology and French to all levels.


Antonio Baro, B.A., (University of Barcelona)

Antonio is a native Spanish teacher who has been teaching since 1991. At ITS, he teaches Spanish to all levels.


Dr. Dennis McCaffery, Ph.D., B.Sc. (Hons)

Dennis has a PhD in Molecular Biology and a BSc in Physiology from the University of Edinburgh. He is an experienced science teacher and has taught students from a range of top-tier schools in the UK, including Eton, Harrow and Sherborne. He has also worked as a laboratory tutor at Edinburgh University whilst working towards his PhD. At ITS, he teaches Biology to all level and Chemistry up to IGCSE level.

Leo Tong, B.Ec., (University College London)

Leo graduated with a degree in Economics from University College London, together with his excellence academic achievement as a graduate from Harrow School in London, Leo understands the what is needed to attain results in the subjects of Economics and Mathematics. Whereas his working experience in the field of finance and wealth management equips him with the knowledge to guide senior students in more specialist areas.

Aileen Valentine, B.A. Sociology, TEFL, TESOL, Teaching Adult Learners Diploma, Trainer Diploma

Aileen has been teaching English since 1995 to students of all ages in the UK, US, Greece and now Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, Aileen has taught in kindergarten, primary and secondary schools as well as teaching adults. She has also trained local teachers in Macau to help them teach English.  At ITS, she offers training courses in Business English, Plain English for Lawyers as well Aviation, Cabin Crew English, IELTS preparation  and more.


Divya Hiranandani, B.Sc., (City University London)

Divya holds an Upper Class Honours in Sociology and Media from City University in London. Prior to joining ITS, she worked as Head of Business Development taking care of accounts for international corporations. At ITS, Divya teaches Business to all level across all syllabus and English up to IB Standard Level.


Jim Kapernaros, B.A., (Deree American College), M.Ed., (University of Hong Kong), Graduate Diploma of Education and Applied Linguistics

Jim has a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in English Literature. He has many years of teaching experience in a variety of secondary schools in Hong Kong and Australia. Prior to joining ITS, he was been involved in development of curriculum and is an honorary lecturer at universities across the world. At ITS, Jim teaches English Language and English Literature at all levels including GCSE, A-Level and IB.


Jack Li, B.Sc., (University of British Columbia)

Jack Li is a member of the maths department. A graduate of UBC with a BSc of Science in Mathematics, he was admitted on scholarship and achieved high level of academic achievement during his studies. He joins the ITS team with experience in investment banking as well as online education. Jack teaches mathematics to all levels.


William Shum, Ph.D., (Utah)

William obtained a PhD in Physical Chemistry from The University of Utah and conducted postdoctoral research at the Cornell University. Prior to joining ITS, he has many years of research and teaching experience in many global universities. At ITS, William teaches chemistry up to IB SL and AS-level, plus Maths and Physics up to GCSE level.


Zachary Jones, M.Sci, (London)

Zach obtained a Masters Degree in Physics with honours from Queen Mary, University of London. He has done research and dissertations on materials in nuclear reactors and black holes. At ITS, he teaches Physics at all levels.


Juliet Ide, BA (Wesleyan University), MA (Yale Divinity School), Teaching Certificate in English

Juliet has a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in English and a Master's degree in Religion. She has over a decade of experience in teaching in international schools in Hong Kong, UK and US. She is an I.B. English Literature examiner. At ITS, Juliet teaches English, TOK, Philosophy and Religious Studies at all levels.


Annabel Combrink, BSc (UCT)

Annie read Chemistry and Environmental Sciences in the University of Cape Town and graduated with distinction and as a Dean’s List scholar. Annie brings a wealth of experience to guide and support learners of Chemistry at all levels.

Alistair Wan, BA (LSE), MSc (LSE)

Alistair Wan read Geography (BA) and Urbanization & Development (MSc) at London School of Economics. Alistair teaches Geography to all levels as well as Economics up to IGCSE

Udara Senevirathne BEconFin (HKU)

Udara joins the ITS team with a long proven scholastic and teaching track record. A straight A’s student himself, Udara studied Economics and Finance with a minor in Geography at the University of Hong Kong, where he also served as the tutor for St John’s College. Udara’s enthusiasm to the student and curriculum will allow him to be a effective teacher of Economics, Business, Accounting and Geography
Jonathan Luskin, B.A. (Washington University)

Jonathan obtained a BA with High Honors in Chemistry from The Washington University in St Louis and conducted research in catalyst. Prior to joining ITS, he has many years of research and teaching experience in universities. At ITS, Jonathan teaches chemistry at various levels.
Mohit Chainani, B.A (HKUST)

Mohit Chainani is a graduate of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting and was recipient of the ESF Chairman’s Award for Excellence for his high achievement in IB while attending Shatin College. His professional experience in finance and commitment to teaching student through enrichment and application make him a valuable member of the ITS Team. Mohit teaches Economics and Business to all levels.

Kanchan Dandwani has a BSc and Masters in International Relations and History from the London School of Economics. Kanchan has many years of experience of teaching both IB and A-Level History, and at ITS, teaches History to all levels, and English up to GCSE.
