ITS Tutorial School has offered top A-level Economics support since 2005. We are the only tutorial school in Hong Kong also licensed to run the A-level exams by Pearson. You can take both International A-levels and some GCE subjects as well. Thousands of students have taken private tuition with our Biology tutors to date. You can either:

What are the prerequisites of this course?

There are no prerequisites, but an I/ GCSE qualification in Economics may be useful.

What can I do with an A-level in Economics?

You can go on to university courses like an honours degree in Economics or related subjects, or choose to enter employment. 
The skills learned by studying Economics are relevant to many careers, such as chartered accountant, chartered public finance accountant, data analyst, economist, financial risk analyst, or forensic accountant.

If you are an international student taking A-levels the basic offer is made for 3 A-level subjects. It is very important when choosing these subjects that you understand what options you will have for university when the time comes. How is the course structured?

The course consists of 4 Units – 2 IAS and 2 IA2 Units 

Unit 1: Markets in Action
Unit 2: Macroeconomic Performance and Policy

Unit 3: Business Behaviour
Unit 4: Developments in the Global Economy

Topic and assessment overview

Assessment in January and June

  • External assessment: written examination
  • Each Unit is 80 raw marks
  • Weighting: Each Unit is 25% of the total IAL marks
  • Examination time: Units 1 & 2 – 1 hour 30 minutes; Units 3 & 4 –  2 hours
