Expect Subsidies to boost R & D in universities

By ITS Education Asia

Due to the current US-Sino trade war, many Chinese tech firms such as Huawei and ZTE have been banned from using US technology, and as of October 8th eight Chinese technology companies were among those added to a trade blacklist by the US.

Xiang Songzuo, an outspoken economist at the Renmin University of China, believes short-term stimulus efforts by the government would not be effective, and that the country should stay on the course for structural reforms that promote basic research and innovation.

This would help offset the loss of US technology in the long run, as well as drive development in the Chinese tech industry. Do you think the current trade war will lead to subsidies in our R+D department in our universities?
