Bullying Nationwide

Finland has been able to reduce its bullying statistics by 40% thanks to the nationwide implementation of KiVA, a scheme that focuses on changing the behaviour of bullies. Unfortunately, Hong Kong has yet to catch up to other countries in dealing with the bullying culture within its own schools. In order to effect change, it is important for legislators to improve not just the quality of schooling that leads to academic success, but also the environment in which students learn. As bullying becomes a bigger problem in Hong Kong, changing how it is dealt with is a key step in the right direction. The negative impact bullying has on young students, particularly how it affects their mental health, further exacerbates this hot issue.
