Coronavirus - Cambridge IGCSE the latest international school exams to be cancelled amid pandemic

By ITS Education Asia

Following up from last week’s announcement on the cancellation of the Cambridge CIE exams here is an article from the SCMP discussing the announcement.

Exams for an international curriculum taught by more than 4.800 schools in over 150 countries have been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, the British-based examiner said.

The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations will not be held in May and June, exam board Cambridge Assessment International Education confirmed in a reply to the Post.

It said the decision was made as many countries had extended school closures into these two months, which made it impossible to hold international exams.

Another board, Pearson Edexcel, however, has only said its IGCSE exams would continue outside Britain where schools were open and deemed safe in May and June.
