The importance of soft skills being taught at university

By ITS Education Asia

As modern employers are looking more and more for job candidates who have a variety of interpersonal skills, the importance of soft skills cannot be underestimated, and now universities are increasingly offering courses in soft skills to help students get a job once they finish their course. Experts say work ethic alone isn't enough, as employers are looking for candidates with a range of interpersonal skills.

The article lists the following skills as essential to employers:

  • Leadership
  • Teamwork
  • Communication skills
  • Conflict resolution
  • Problem-solving
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Social and emotional intelligence
  • Time management

The suggestion is that students consider universities/colleges that offer teaching in these areas as well as the academic course they are undertaking.
