An interesting article from the BBC reporting that Ofqual is asking schools to allow students who did not reach usual qualifying GCSE grades this year to be allowed to stay on and enroll in A levels anyway.. The disruption to students schooling seems to make this a very reasonable request. The issue could be though as to whether sufficient places exist in the schools. A line will still have to be drawn.
A-levels and GCSE exams were cancelled in the pandemic and exam boards will issue replacement results. The exams watchdog says schools should put "slightly less weight" on pupils getting "one or two lower grades".
If pupils do not get the results they expect they can take written exams in the autumn - but that would be too late for those taking GCSEs who planned to start A-level courses in September.
ITS students are lucky not to face these problems as we are a non-selective school and every pupil follows their own timelines anyway. Contact us for a free consultation
