I have been encouraging more note taking so he can look back on his notes leading up to tests and exams and therefore recall writing strategies and techniques. I’ve also been working on his confidence with how he writes out answers so he doesn't feel too downbeat about his performance in his first term which was more likely a lack of attendance rather than ability.

I've recently seen that she hasn't been finishing all the homework (she says it's too repetitive), While it's good that she seems confident with the content, ongoing practice is very important in maths and it is helpful in avoiding careless errors on tests and homework. Overall she possesses a good work ethic.

I feel quite strongly that as she is a TAFE student and there is no teacher to guide her she has fallen back across this year's work. She needs to find the motivation of a self-directed learner. She has some knowledge of course but nowhere near enough to answer most questions. Unsurprisingly, her confidence is not very high as a result of all this but we will work it up. That said, I believe she can do well after she has been shown by example and encouraged.
