Director Of Admissions (Hong Kong & China)

Qualifications :

Bachelor of Law

Subjects :

Law, English, Mathematics, General Science, Lower Secondary Humanities, Political Science

Sean graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelors of Law in 2011. Prior to that, he had completed his education in Hong Kong through both the local and international schooling system. He ran his own education company for four years and he has been teaching for around 10 years. He teaches a wide range of subjects at IGCSE level, including Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Geography and Business Studies. At A level, he teaches Law, LNAT and other political science subjects.

On becoming a teacher:
I became a teacher because I enjoyed teaching the most. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught a wide range of students and subjects. Since the education system in Hong Kong is becoming more and more competitive, students are facing a lot of pressure to succeed. I try to help my students to learn to love or to understand a particular subject and that beyond the pressures of school learning is always fun and interesting. I enjoy talking and having my students to push their limits and to think out of the box. I like to see them more as friends and to let them know that I’m always there to help them regardless of the subject or situation.

An admirable person:
Lord Denning. As a judge he attempted to make his decisions and the law publicly understandable, believing that the public would not want to follow the law unless they believed and understood that it was just. In his cases he referred to the parties by name in his judgments rather than as "plaintiff" and "defendant" and used short sentences and a "storytelling" style of speech.

An inspirational person:
Barack Obama. I loved watching his 2004 Democratic National Convention keynote address as it was so moving and uplifting.

“Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America. There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America.”

Top tip to younger self:
Work hard and give everything your best.
