Mathematical Admissions Test (MAT)

Oxford & Cambridge Applications See all our Cambridge Admissions Tests

The MAT is a requirement for applicants to Mathematics and Computer Science and any joint degrees which include these subjects at the University of Oxford (and now some others).

It is subject-specific but you do not need to be studying advanced mathematics courses such as A-level Further Maths to apply or to sit this test. Your result will help universities determine whether or not to interview you. Even after interview, your result will remain as part of the total consideration of whether to offer you a place.

The test is run by Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing (CAAT) and ITS Education Asia is an open centre (#HK109) for this test. Exam dates are held each year in late October/early November. Candidates can enrol directly with ITS, where we are BOTH the enrolling and examining centre for this test.

*Notes:

  2. All candidates are expected to have a UCAS ID upon enrolment. Only candidates who are not enrolling for UK universities in September 2022 do not need a UCAS ID.
