With the new government incentive of promoting new high school opportunities in order to enhance learning outcomes, various programmes have been implemented to provide high quality learning opportunities for talent students to further develop their potential. The key focus areas include themes of STEM education. This was the first year where Hong Kong had sent student representatives to participate in the International Biology Olympiad and they achieved outstanding results, winning one gold, two silver and one bronze medal.
The IBO was held from 14 – 20 July 2019 in Szeged, Hungary with around 285 contestants from 73 countries participating in this event.
