Over half of all DSS schools apply to raise fees

By ITS Education Asia

39 out of 72 Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) schools in Hong Kong have applied to the Education Bureau to raise their fees, with the proposed raises from nearly three percent up to 19 percent. DSS schools receive government funding but can charge fees, and have greater flexibility in the setting of their curriculum and admission procedures.

Principal of Pak Kau College Wong Wing-tung explained “Our fees are already relatively low compared with others and we felt that an extra HK$82 a month is quite reasonable.”
