A new study conducted by the University College London shows that adolescents’ activity levels have a positive correlation with better moods. Findings suggest that, with at least an additional hour of light activity every day, they expressed fewer depressive symptoms in adulthood.
This is good news considering the trend over the past few years among educators has been to promote more activity to counter the sedentary lifestyle of being online. Among young adult professionals, the push toward standing desks and shared co-working spaces has been embraced to promote more interactions and movement within the office space.
Overall, this is good news in light of the current issues society collectively faces with regard to mental health: just a little bit of exercise from an early age, has both mental and physical benefits experienced in adulthood.
