Teenage hangups: the drastic plans to keep high schoolers off their phones

By ITS Education Asia

ChalkFace has been reporting on many countries/schools considering a ban (or already have) of mobile phones at school. However, there is an alternative. Soon, more than 1,000 schools in the US will be using Yondr, a pouch that students lock their phones in during class.

Each morning when students arrive at school, they magnetically lock their devices into their own personal green and gray pouches. They maintain possession of their pouches and devices, but they cannot unlock it until the end of the day, when they tap it on an unlocking magnet station located in the school.

Maybe this type of technology is a possible alternative to a complete ban on phones at school. The linked to article discusses students feedback on some of the advantages and disadvantages of using Yondr.

What do you think? Should this technology be trialed in Hong Kong?
